Future of media: Community is your new business model
In this post on Gigaom, Mathew Ingram delves into the benefits that can are derived from community build and questions why media companies are more focused on building paywalls and subscription models than fully connecting with their readers. Some media companies argue that they do connect via the interactive portions of their online presence. Mathew notes that what is needed in much more than just some comment posts at the end of a news story, with little or no interaction from the writer or editors.
